Please Rob Me: 5 Ways the Internet could ruin your life

by ConorB on February 23, 2010

Did you hear us nattering about Please Rob Me during the week? Put quite simply, it tells you when people have announced they aren’t at home online and how they can therefore be robbed. How terrifying! Check out our discussion on the podcast for more. It did make me think that this was only the beginning. What are other sites in the same vein that could work quite well? Because we love a good top five at Venntertainment (who doesn’t?) here are 5 more websites that could ruin your life where they to exist.

Please Post Drunk Pictures of Me

We’ve all been there. Those hideous snaps of you after 4 shots too many all up in da club on a Friday, plastered on the web for all to see, share and LOL themselves silly at. If somebody were to do a rolling feed of the amount of unflattering drunk pictures going online at any given time I’m pretty sure that would explode after about five minutes.

Please Get Me Fired

We’ve all heard the horror stories of people ringing in sick to work to be found out that they were lying through Facebook or have a manager find something incriminating online and dropping their sorry ass. A feed of this carry on would be amazing and probably give the makers of The Office material for at least 8 more seasons.

Please Stalk Me

Look, we ALL stalk people through social networks to some degree. If you act like you haven’t looked at a total strangers photos/tweets/ramblings at length then you’re a stronger person than me. And a complete liar. Imagine if somebody created a site that layed out all the people you had an online perv over during say, a week? I bet it would be scary, staggering and awfully revealing.

Please Remind Me of How Much Time I’m Wasting

Have you ever noticed how time flies when you’re online? I notice that every waking minute I’m on a computer. I have spent literally hours trying to write a couple of hours trying to a few hundred words such is the power of distractions like Twitter/Facebook/YouTube. A feed collecting all the time you waste online watching crap/talking crap would quite likely be the most terrifying thing you’d see all day. Mind you it’d take you an hour to get around to reading it as you’d be distracted by a new music video, new blog post, new @ reply on Twitter.

Please Release Me, Let Me Go

Right. I actually just wrote that because the song that came into my head. But wouldn’t it be fabulous if there was a site that would just occasionally flash a message that reminded you to get off the damn computer and remember the joys of the outside world? You know “You have been online for 3 hours, why not go for a brisk walk”. “You have been online for 6 hours, why not turn off the laptop and enjoy a fruit smoothie?” “You have been online for 9 hours, could you please just get up and go have a face to face conversation with someone? You loser”. That sort of thing.

How about you lot? Are there are some helpful websites I’m missing out on? I’m waiting on the Please Rob Me guys to get in touch to recruit me any second now! (Please Recruit Me dot com maybe?)
