Hello dear Venntertainment readers!
You may (or may not more likely) know me from Pop Culture Platinum where I generally discuss highbrow cultural happenings such as The Hills and the latest Timbaland video. I don’t pretend to like it at the front-line of the high art world but I do my best.
Bearing that in mind I’m here to sprinkle some celebrity/pop cultural gossip your way and some commentary on some of the not-so-cerebral but quite important events happening in pop culture world right now. I’m also going to be co-hosting the Venntertainment radio show this month where I’ll try to understand big words like “literature” and pester RTE to give me Anne Doyle’s contact details so I can ask her to be my friend.
But until then let’s get down to business:
Brad & Angelina: Trouble in Paradise
There were rumours flying (FLYING) around over the last seven days that Brad and Ange were for the celebrity couple scrapheap. A report that started in The News of the World (reputable) spread through the gossip columns/magazine like wildfire (WILDFIRE) saying that had drawn up divorce papers and all sorts. But they aren’t married. And yet the internet still took the News Of The World as gospel. It was only when People magazine swooped in to confirm that the reports were false that normality returned. People magazine is like the Bible, it is never wrong. If the Bible talked about Heidi Montag’s plastic surgery and who wore what at the Oscars that is.
Jersey Shore: Stupid People ask for Stupid Money
You may or may not heard of the new MTV show Jersey Shore. It is basically loads of maddourivit New Jersey young ones living in a house, calling themselves “guidos” and “guidettes” and generally acting the dope. It has become one of the biggest hits for MTV ever, no small feat given how big some of their recent hits have been. Anyway apparently the cast spent the last week working out a higher fee for their contracts for the next season. Just to be clear they’re being paid to just turn up and act the maggot for the cameras for stupid amounts of money. Honestly. If MTV would like to turn up to my house and film the antics they can pay me a fiver and give me a pizza. I think as production costs go that’s quite low. Done.
The Grammys : A bit much to be honest
JAYSUS. Such a bloated, overlong ceremony and so many pointless awards. I went through loads of red carpet photos for this (so you don’t have to) and the amount of nobodies that turned up was shocking. I’m sorry if Rihanna and Lady Gaga are there to play you have to be famous or else why bother? Lots of people won lots of awards including 10 (!) for Beyonce and Album of the Year for Taylor Swift. I’d link you to the full list of winners but honestly, you’re better off. Oh ok, fine knock yourself out.
Celebrity Big Brother: Inspirational
I didn’t watch this. Too much of a trainwreck even for me. But it was nice to see Alex Reid win the heart of the public. If you wear too much fake tan, cross dress and practise cage fighting while engaged in a on/off relationship with a disgraced Glamour model YOU TOO can win Celebrity Big Brother. Brings a tear to the eye.
There you have it, pop back in next week for more highbrow musings on the important cultural events.

and of course Alex Reid has not married Jordan. I bet it was winning CBB that did it.
