This week’s Venntertainment Show discusses a few of that Apps that we think that you should have on your iPhone. Do you agree with our choices?
Shazam
The App that tells you what song is playing. We’ve all been in that scenario. A song’s playing on the radio, in the supermarket, in a club. We like it. But we don’t know who it’s by or what it’s called. Enter Shazam. It’ll tell you all about the song, no matter how obscure it is. Believe me, I’ve tried it on obscure samba music, little known folk and wailing country…it found all of them

Yelp
This App uses Augmented Reality to locate restaurants and bars and super imposes reviews over your camera screen. It’s very useful indeed. Not only will it pick out restaurants near to your location that you are not aware of, by purely pointing your camera in the general direction that you are heading. It will give you a nice honest review and rating, determined by previous, honest customers.

Epicurious
This is for people out there that want a database of recipes in their iPhone. It’s really handy. We have starters, main, deserts and cocktails by the dozen, for all types of food lovers. The database is quite extensive and the App allows you to add items from the recipe to a nice little shopping list. It will save you a lot of time, no more paging through recipe books or scribbling down illegible lists for the shop. The best thing about it? It’s free!

Bloom
There’s many a music App to be purchased on iTunes. Apps that do everything from touch sensitive beat-pads to full blown synthesizers. One of the most interesting Apps that I have comes across though, is the Bloom App. This was designed by none other than Brian Eno (musician and U2 Producer) with his pal, Peter Chilvers. Through touch, you can create your own Eno esque atmospheric tunes. It’s quite something, and very relaxing. If you’re not in the mood to create, just choose the listen option and you can close your eyes as Eno’s music takes you away. There’s two other apps like this on iTunes by Eno. Trope and Air are both worth a look.

RunPee
Finally, this is the App for all of you cinema goers. We’ve all had that sensation. The feeling that your bladder is about to burst. When you’ve paid to watch a movie though, your urge is to ignore the pain, in case you miss something important. Thanks to RunPee, you don’t have to worry about that ever again. This App lists the latest movies and the points that it’s ok to run to the loo. It evens gives you a timer so that you can get back to your seat before the important bits start again. Genius!
