Dingle-Hopper

I’m back :-) Only getting a chance to post about my wonderful weekend away in Kerry now.

We made our way down in my very nippy Toyota iQ on Friday evening. Took us a good five hours as we met a few bottlenecks along the way, but once you get past Limerick it’s quite clear and a lovely drive.

This is where we stayed. It’s a great little place, at the top of the Dingle peninsula. The views are breath-taking, the food is great and all-in-all it’s a very comfortable place to stay.

We did a lot of driving, Kerry is such a wonderful place. The weekend was very wet, but it didn’t stop us seeing the Peninsula. Saturday was beach day. We saw some of lovely local beaches in Castlegregory and also drove to an amazing look-out point. On Sunday, we drove over Conor’s Pass – the iQ dealt with it in an exemplary fashion. Amazing traction, breaking and control over a very difficult few miles of road. We then drove down into Dingle to see the town, eat some of Murphy’s famous Peanut Ice-cream and take a boat out in the lashing rain to see a slightly lethargic Fungi the Dolphin.

We left for Dublin on Monday morning and were back before 6 as the rest of the country were in Croke Park.

So, a great weekend was had. The iQ is still rating terribly high in my book. The leather heated seats make for very comfortable driving, the back seats put down left a load of room for our bags and the car still drives like a dream :-)
