The Ambience Affair – Fragile Things Review

by venntertainment on April 16, 2009

For a band in it’s infancy, this EP bodes very well for things to come. Indiecater have snapped them up and I picked up the EP for a measly 2.50. A bargain!

The Ambiance Affair

The Ambiance Affair

The Ambience Affair create short, snappy Indie rock with mininal acoustic instrumentation. Jamie Clarke’s vocals are so effective, sometimes soothing, sometimes snappy. Marc Gallagher’s drums are an excellent basis for Jamie’s acoustic guitar to loop and scratch over. For the first time in a long time, not one influence leaps out. Originality is a rare thing these days.

Fragile Things is strong throughout, but EP opener ‘Vacant Hearts’ is the stand-out for me. Lo-fi Indie at it’s best. Layered guitar over immediate vocals and tight-as-a-duck’s-arse drums.

These guys are something special and easily sit up there as one of my most promising bands for 2009.
